New Guests
Dear family of faith,
Our neighbors, The Pentecostal Church of Christ on the corner of East 105 and Chester, under the leadership of my friend and colleague, Bishop Delano Ellis, has a significant problem. Their heating system has failed. Major repairs are underway. But they will not be able to use their building and sanctuary space for the next three Sundays.
In conversations with Bishop Ellis we are working out a way to be of help in this difficult time for their congregation.
Here are the broad details:
1. Our Pentecostal neighbors will be using our sanctuary for their worship services for the next three Sundays; November 19, 26, and December 2nd. They will be using our sanctuary each of those Sundays from 12:30 to 2 PM.
2. They will also be holding their annual THANKSGIVING DAY worship service here from 12:30 to 1:30 PM.
3. They will use their own parking spaces for worship services.
Being able to accommodate our sisters and brothers from the Pentecostal Church will be a wonderful way of being of help to them in these difficult days as extensive repairs to their HVAC system are completed. And, to be sure, it will cause some understanding on our part as we open our sanctuary for their use.
All of our planned programs after our worship services on the next three Sundays will continue as planned. We will simply need to understand that there will be many people in our sanctuary as events such as our book discussion in the reception room, our Neighborhood Lunch program and First Sunday Pot Luck and its program time led by Rev. Sharon Seyfarth Garner take place in our Great Hall.
While we may anticipate some challenges in sharing space on a busy Sunday for all of us, it is a very important moment of fellowship and service opportunity for us. I am sure that I articulate the sentiments of all of us in writing that we are very pleased that we can be of meaningful service.
It will be a most rewarding time as we celebrate the Sabbath these next three Sundays!
