Rollercoaster of Change:
Change itself is a process, whether starting from a shock or a planned shift. The first session will address the actual rollercoaster of personal and community emotions that accompany most changes, showing how different people are managing the change based on their position on the hills and valleys. We will discuss how this rollercoaster can inform our well-being at UCUMC. The second session will review the rollercoaster, and then zero in on the places (hills, valleys) where we find ourselves spiritually, emotionally, and physically, with some plans to work our way through change. The third session will be more concrete – what can happen now specifically? Another change is coming (new pastor), and how will we manage our rollercoaster?
Discussion is open to anyone who wishes to attend. Each session welcomes new participants. Email Dr. Lisa if you would like more information.
“Transitions: Making Sense of Life’s Changes”
UCUMC - Dr. Sandy Selby
May 13, June 3 and June 10, 2018
Whether at home, at church, in the workplace, or in civic life, change is happening all around us. Transition, the process by which we try to come to terms with change, can be even more difficult than change itself. Drawing on William Bridges’ classic work Transitions: Making Sense of Life’s Changes (Second Edition, 2004), Dr. Sandy Selby will lead a discussion of the stages that are common to life’s transitions and explore avenues for approaching them with resourcefulness and hope. While it would be helpful to attend all three sessions, please feel free to attend when you are able!
